Have you ever thought of using lemon for making a spell? In this article, I’ll show you how to use lemon for spells plus some powerful lemon spell recipes to remove hexes or negative energy directed at you.

When you think of lemons what do you imagine? Bright yellow, fresh and clean, citrus and tangy, whatever it is, you must know these magickal little fruits have a lot to offer in cleansing, protection, happiness and summer spiritual workings.

Below, I’ll list some of the properties & spiritual uses for lemons!

1. Sun Magic

With its sunny bright yellow color, it’s only obvious that lemons are connected to solar energy and sun magic.

They can be used in any sun magic rituals and spells including sun water – simply add lemon slices or lemon peels (fresh/dried) to filtered water that has been left out in the sun and collected before the moon rises.

Energizing Sun Tea

What you need

• 1 tsp dried peppermint
• 1 tsp dried rosemary
• 1 lemon slice
• 2 cups of edible sun water

Directions

• Make edible sun water by pouring filtered or spring water into a clean mason jar placed atop a selenite plate or near a piece of selenite. Keep it in sunlight and collect it before the moon rises/night falls.
• Now add the herbs into the sun water and let it infuse for 1 hour. This is for iced sun tea. Strain and add ice cubes.
• For hot sun tea, boil the sun water first then add your herbs and steep for 10-15 minutes before straining.
• Enjoy!

2. Cleansing Spray

Lemon is used for purification and can be used to symbolize a new beginning.

This bright yellow fruit is also a natural cleaning ingredient.

The fresh clean scent of lemons and its scouring properties due to its citric acid content are both naturally known to be good for deodorizing and cleaning and purposes.

A cleansing room spray or floor wash can be made using lemon. You can spritz this on your altar, tools or jars before beginning your workings. This is perfect for when you can’t use incense or burn herbs to cleanse.

Also give your room a good spray with this if you feel the need to get rid of any stuffy and old energy/scent. Here’s how:

Lemon Cleansing Room Spray

What you need

• 1-2 lemon slices or 5 drops lemon essential oil
• 1 cup of rain water or sun water
• 1 tsp witch hazel
• 1 tsp dried rosemary or 5 drops rosemary essential oil
• 1 tsp sage or 5 drops of sage essential oil
• ½ tsp salt
• Spray bottle

Directions

1. Add all ingredients into a spray bottle. Chop the lemon slices into tinier bits that fit into the bottle.
2. Shake well and spray everywhere!
3. If using lemon slices and dried herbs, this must be stored in the refrigerator, to prevent spoiling, for 5-7 days. If using only essential oils it’ll last longer outside the refrigerator.
4. For making a floor wash, just triple the recipe and use it on a rag or mop to wipe away dust.

6. Expelling Evil/Darkness

Lemons have a sunny disposition that is believed to cast out evil or darkness. Some people leave lemons mixed with salt around a place to expel any negative forces.

This comes as no surprise as lemons carry a positive energy that works on negative entities like bug repellent.

Use the lemon cleansing spray above, dab with lemon juice or hang lemon peels to keep negativity out. Lemon juice is quite potent so mix it with water before wiping it on surfaces.

Adding ingredients/herbs to baths is nothing new!

Lemon slices included to bath water helps remove dead cells from skin, promote glowing skin and soften rough patches.

Remove Hexes or Banish Lemon Spell

This is also known as a banishing spell using lemon. It helps you remove any hexes (bad things directed at you), constant bad luck or anything else you want to banish from your life.

What you need

• 1 whole lemon
• 1 tsp paprika or red chilli pepper powder
• 1 tsp chilli flakes
• 1 tsp black pepper corns
• Nails/tacks/thorns
• Thin rope or black string/thread
• Black candle for black wax
• Incense for cleansing
• Knife to cut the lemon
• Paper and pen

Directions

1. Cleanse the whole lemon with incense smoke.
2. Cut it in half.
3. On a piece of paper, write down the thing you want to banish and stick it into the cut half of the lemon.
4. Add the herbs mentioned into the cut portion.
5. Seal the lemon with black wax from a black candle.
6. Tie the lemon with the rope or black thread.
7. Discard when the spell is complete by throwing in the trash or removing the nails and burying it in a place away from your home.

Return to Sender Lemon Spell 1

This is a spell for karmic retribution. It helps return the harm done to you right back to its sender and give you justice. Think of it as something that can help the evil bounce back to where it came from.

What you need

• 1 whole lemon
• Black candle
• Knife to cut the lemon
• 1 incense stick for cleansing
• 1 tsp or 6 cloves

Directions

1. Cleanse the lemon using the incense stick.
2. Think of all the harmful events you experienced. Focus on how you feel. It can be hurt, shame, anger, spite – now is the time to open up and FEEL it all. Cry if you want to.
3. Light the candle.
4. Now carefully cut the lemon in half. The candle can also be pressed into one half of the lemon then lit.
5. Get 6 cloves. While pressing 3 cloves on one half of the lemon and repeating the same on the other half, repeat this: “The pain you caused me now is your own, Justice is here, I’m not alone.”
6. Visualize once again what exactly Justice means to you. You can also write this on a piece of paper and burn it with the candle.
7. When you’re ready, blow out the black candle to release your intention into the Universe. You can also let it burn down fully into the lemon, then tie the halves together with a rope.
8. Bury the lemon halves away from your house such as in your backyard, throw it into a river/stream or trash it. You may also compost it if you can’t do any of the three mentioned.

What you need

• A whole lemon
• Black candle
• Paper and black pen for writing your intention
• Star anise for protection
• Cloves for anti-gossip
• Black tourmaline or obsidian crystal or crystal chips to return the evil back to its source
• Chilli flakes to add a nasty kick in the direction of the sender

Directions

1. On a paper write your intention or this, “All those that have placed on me anything unecessarily, whoo have gone out of their way to do me harm or cursed me out or want me scorn. All those take back what once was yours, a return to sender coming at your door.”
2. Cleanse a heat proof plate with incense going counter clockwise at least three times. Now open a circle of lemon slices, leaving a small opening somewhere in the circle for the evil energy to get out off, and place a black candle in the center of the circle.
3. Add one star anise and 2 cloves at each connecting circle.
4. Sprinkle chilli flakes on the lemon slices.
5. You can also sprinkle black obsidian, smoky quartz or black tourmaline chips or place the crystal(s) inside the circle.
6. Light the candle and burn the paper with your inscription. Let the ashes fall into the circle.
7. Let the cande burn down fully or snuff it when done concentrating on the spell and your intentions.
8. Close the circle by connecting the opening you left between two lemon slices and cleanse the space again.
9. You are done! Discard the lemon slices.

Cleansing Lemon Spell

The purpose of this cleansing lemon spell is to remove other people’s unwanted energies from your space. We’ve all felt it before, negative energy lingering in your house after a visit from someone, especially someone you don’t particularly enjoy. You can use a lemon to remove their bad energy off your house & belongings. Rub this lemon spell over the surfaces they touched as soon as they leave your home.

Use this cleansing lemon spell if you can’t use smoke, incense or sound to cleanse your environment for any reason, such as if you live in a shared space like a college dorm, or if you fear the smoke detectors going off, or if you have respiratory conditions and can’t breathe in incense, etc.

What you need

• One whole lemon to purify, cleanse and neutralize unwanted energies
• 1/2 tsp salt to absorb negative energy
• 1/2 tsp chilli flakes to burn away unwelcoming intentions, evil eye & for its general protective correspondences

Directions

1. Cut a whole lemon in half.
2. Sprinkle salt & chilli flakes on one side of the lemon.
3. Place the other half on top of this one and tie them together using a rope.
4. It’s done!
5. Pass the lemon over surfaces, the air, belongings & even over your body to cleanse. You don’t have to let the lemon touch or rub against you/surfaces, you can simply pass it over with the intention to remove negativity. This is ideal since if lemon juice spills it can damage some surfaces such as marble as it’s acidic.

STFU Lemon Spell

STFU means Shut the F* Up. Basically, it’s a spell to make someone stop gossiping and spreading rumours about you, talking about you or just annoying you. You want them to keep quiet, mind their own business and get gone.

What you need

• A whole lemon
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder/flakes or 1 garlic clove
• 1/2 tsp black pepper corns or black pepper powder
• Red thread or yarn

Directions

1. Get a whole lemon, place it flat on a table and carefully make a cut in it horizontally with a knife to create a ‘pocket’.
2. Write the person’s or people’s names on a piece of paper, fold it three times away from you and put it in the cut you made in the lemon.
3. Add garlic powder, flakes, a whole garlic or garlic powder into the ‘pocket.’
4. Add black pepper corns or powder.
5. Seal the cut with red thread or yarn for power & domination against the person/people.
6. Keep it in the freezer to ‘freeze’ or stop the person’s actions. You can keep it for however long you can, refresh the spell as you see fit by making a new one or discard it after it has worked or served its purpose.
